Client: the leading provider of comprehensive waste and environmental services in North America.
Project Area: Human Resources
Project Summary: After a merger, our client (located in Illinois) was left with no on-site human resource support. From a corporate standpoint it was thought that Human Resource needs for all divisions could be handled remotely through the new corporate offices in Houston, TX. Problems with this process started to surface quickly particularly in terms of applicant flow and recruiting.
Project Detail: Very shortly after the loss of on-site human resource support, it became apparent to our client (a key department of a major corporation previously headquartered in Illinois) that filling open positions in the billing and customer service center was problematic.
The individual managers were tasked with doing their own recruiting without either the time or the expertise to do so. Hiring needs were somewhat sporadic, but frequent. Without a central point of contact to manage the recruiting, the hiring process was ineffective.
A Beaird consultant, who has extensive experience in entry level recruiting was brought on to create a full cycle recruiting process and effectively manage the clients hiring needs. She created a process to solicit and review applications. She managed the internal interview process which ultimately included an interview training seminar for all supervisors. Finally she tracked results/communicated decisions to all candidates. In time, it became apparent to the client that they also needed on-site expertise in Employee Relations. A second consultant, who has a strong HR generalist background was brought on to handle day-to-day performance and benefits issues. Eventually, recruiting was transitioned to her as well. Ultimately, the client was able to make the case to corporate that they needed several full time Human Resource professionals to meet the needs of this large department. Beaird Group was able to provide critical tactical support during this time of transition. |
