Finance #5 Revenue Reporting Management

Print

Client:  the leading provider of comprehensive waste and environmental services in North America.

Project Area:  Finance

Project Summary:  handling certain processes for a client’s sales department that was an overlay of their organization.  This meant that the department was operating like a mini “organization” within the company.  Although this is a standard organizational structure, it is nonetheless complicated and must be handled carefully.

Project Detail:  One of the Beaird Group’s clients had such a department.  Their national accounts department operated as a central function of the organization with its own management, sales team and staff.  While the national accounts sales team dealt with the customers on a corporate level, the company’s geographic sales team dealt with customers at a local level. One component of making this work was to accurately manage the revenue for these national customers and all their locations.  After an essential member of the client’s organization resigned, the Beaird Group was asked to manage the Revenue Reporting function for their national accounts department.

Because we had past history with this client (and a good understanding of their customers), we were able to step right in and assist on the project. By doing so, the client realized the following benefits:

  • Uninterrupted monthly revenue reporting cycle.
  • 25% savings over the previous model due to the Beaird Group’s staffing up during peak times of the revenue reporting cycle, then scaling back as required (during off times throughout the month).
  • With the implementation of Cycle Audits, there was a reduction in the number of “ad hoc” reports required and an improvement to the quality of the information on the reports.
  • Report enhancements that better reflected the needs of the business.
